Join Us in Shaping Chelmsford’s Cultural Future
Are you passionate about championing creativity, community, and meaningful cultural change?
We’re looking for a socially engaged artist or collective to lead an exciting, community-driven project exploring life in Chelmsford today.
Working with young creatives (Spark!), local communities, and the Museum of Chelmsford, you’ll run creative workshops across the city, co-create artwork with diverse communities and help produce a public exhibition and events programme.
At the heart of the project is one question: “If the Museum of Chelmsford could collect just ONE object to show what your life in Chelmsford is like today, what would it be and why?
If you have experience in collaborative, community-led practice, are passionate about inclusion, diversity, and co-creation and can bring people together through creative work, we’d love to hear from you. We encourage applications from artists who identify as part of the underrepresented communities the project aims to reach.
Please note this is a two stage application process, stage one is an expression of interest. If shortlisted to stage two, you will be informed by Tuesday 28 April, and invited to an interview led by Spark! members and paid for your time.
Please submit your Expression of Interest by Midnight on Thursday 23 April 2026.
If you would like to speak to us first before sending in your application, please contact us at hello@culturechelmsford.org.uk to arrange a time to speak with Jess or Liz.
