Culture Chelmsford has established a Cultural Connectors group with links to many different communities from diverse ethnic, religious, gender and socio-economic backgrounds, and those who have experienced marginalisation in various ways.
The Community Engagement Framework will support the delivery of the Cultural Strategy and how we work with our Compact Partners in co-developing new, community-focussed cultural programmes from April 2025. The founding members are:
The New Generation Development Agency works with those affected by racial, economic or identity profiling, and at-risk of social isolation, domestic abuse, grooming and other risks.
Bubu’s Community Hub brings people from different walks of life together, including religious groups, disability support networks and the Essex Police Service.
Bucky Ringsell, a local artist and writer, provides educational services and training with an LGBTQA+ focus and developed a strong inclusive community via Darkside Comics.
South Woodham Ferrers Community Hub links to communities in and around South Woodham Ferrers and surrounding rural areas, including Men’s Shed and SWF Creatives.
Writtle College, based in Writtle Village, engages and supports its students, as well as having strong links with teaching and social care cohorts.
On-going recruitment will ensure increased representation across the district.
